[OPEN] DERSE MINGLE

You are now on DERSE.

If you've awakened in this kingdom, your DREAM SELF is free to leave their TOWER and explore the city below. There may be a few things out of the ordinary, however; some of the resident DERSITES appear to be on edge...

If you look closely, you will find a series of golden posters plastered up on the walls of the kingdom: these posters are headlined with LIES AND SLANDER, though that might only be the case if you actually like the people pictured on them. You might see one of your TEAMMATES or even just a FRIEND, beneath the headline...

HEROES FAIL TO AWAKEN! ROGUE AND THIEF CONTINUE TO BE AT LARGE!
THE FALL OF PROSPIT'S HEROES REVERSED! A NEW ARMY HAS RISEN FROM THE ASHES!
THE PRINCE IS DEAD? THE PRINCE IS ALIVE? HAS TIME GONE CRAZY?

The headlines are uncountable - you're willing to bet that there is one for every player in your session. You wouldn't be surprised if there were one about you on your opposing moon!

Perhaps you'd better locate one of your teammates, or ask the DERSITES what's happening. This has to be a setup by the BLACK QUEEN.

Everything is going pretty awful.

Which is to say, absolutely, terrifyingly fantastic. You're one to make sure it shows, because already you can feel that there's something going on that doesn't bode well for Prospit at all. Given that you have work to do that's being done at your specific orders, you're not exactly expecting any visitors...

...but who's to say one of the Derse heroes won't show up?

You so do not want to be here.

You're standing nearby the Black Queen, doing your thing. Which is, right now, nothing. You want to be killing things, dirtying your hands, ruining lives... not standing here with your hands tied. But she won't let you leave. You know not to show it, so you're playing bored. Playing bored, unfortunately, has you feeling bored.

You really hope one of those Derse heroes shows up.

So you can stab them.

Just another day, taking care of business.

Like tearing down these awful golden propaganda posters. Held under your arms are dozens, literally dozens of the posters and yet you can't see an end to them in sight. More importantly, you swear you're coming across posters that you've torn down before. You'd love to tell Jack there's a poster putter in need of stabbing...

...but you don't know who it is, or how they have so many posters.

Oh well. They'll run out, eventually, and then you can get them all down. You seriously hope one of the Derse heroes isn't responsible for this, though. Maybe you'll ask them, or maybe they'll ask you.

Who knows.

HEAVY.

Even for you, this thing is HEAVY! Talk about an errand to run! You're practically walking from one side of Derse to the other side holding this EXTREMELY HEAVY OBJECT. You don't even know why, honestly, you just know that's what the orders were for you to do.

The Dersites know to stay clear of your footsteps, and if any of them or any of those Derse heroes don't stay clear? Well, they'll just get stepped on.

Hats! Hats hats hats hats hats!

Not only in the golden posters you've seen around, but also all around for you to collect! You're not sure who or how or why but you're doing a little happy clap and even a little dance as you sweep up hats into your arms; and then onto your head. Hats hats hats! You're practically a walking Jenga tower of hats, whatever Jenga is, and you're only finding more!

You wonder if the Derse heroes wear hats, too?

Not really, but you might as well be with how much time you spend amongst them. It’s important to be able to report good things to the Queen after all. She’s been in a good mood lately which takes some of the pressure off you, but you hardly want to slip up and end up in one of those awful cells you Dersites call a jail.

You shudder to think on it. Clearly, it’d be better for you if you kept to your duty, walking amongst the citizens and taking detailed notes of anything you find interesting. Of course you can always make time for your Derse heroes, should one decide to approach you but you are rather busy.

You are the public people of Derse.

Or, well, not just you, but you and you and you, and also you. There certainly are a lot of you, aren't there? Most of you are wandering about your daily Derse lives, occasionally stopping to be fascinated by the golden propaganda posters that have appeared. I mean, really, this is new; and kind of ugly. Check it out?

But, mostly, you're just being Dersites. You are literally everywhere. No doubt there's more than a few of you nearby the Dersite heroes.

[So after dealing with a lot of nervous discomfort because seriously why is there all this purple being shoved into his face, Kappy has finally decided to leave his tower to...actually see stuff, pretty much.

He's kind of looking distastefully at the posters.]

[ nik has thoroughly floated around derse and she does not like what she sees!! she's left a trail of crumpled yellow posters behind her as she goes around and continues to tear them down, looking PRETTY DANG MIFFED for once. ] Boo! Stop saying mean things about Niknik's friends!

[...Well okay urm.]

You've been exploring this weird place since you woke up here, although the attention you seem to attract is becoming increasingly unnerving. Granted, you don't look like you belong here at all, with all these strange carapaced people.

In the course of your getting the lay of the land, you spot one of them tearing a piece of paper—a poster, really—off a wall. That's not really what catches your attention. What catches your eye is that the poster has your face on it, though you can't make out the writing.

Well, that explains why you keep getting stared at.

Excuse me—what are those?

Speak of the devil.

You turn slightly, only to find yourself face to face with the hero whose poster you just tore down. You're pretty sure she doesn't look the type to be posting pictures of herself all over, and now she's askin' you what the posters even are. So either she's playing you really effectively, or she's innocent. The former would just be a hassle to deal with, so you decide to accept the latter.

Either way, you're nonchalantly tucking the poster under your arm with all the others that you intend to dispose of as you respond; already idly reaching to tear another one down.

Propaganda from someone with incredibly poor taste in color.

She's a hero, may as well be honest with her. The Queen would like that, you suppose, and it'd definitely take some heat off of Jack if she was distracted by... well, anything. You don't want to think about the Queen any more right now, especially after she promoted that other guy.

You aren't really comfortable here, though really, you're not comfortable much at this point. It's a combination of the colour and the fact that you stick out like a sore thumb among all the carapaces and all these posters and headlines. It's enough to make you want to go back to sleep, because you're starting to think there are more important things you have to do in the realm of the living.

You are surprised however, to see someone who isn't a black carapace, while also not being one of the human aliens or a troll.

Urm, excuse me...?

Well, they are at war with each other, so...

You are the ROGUE of TIME, and you are currently asleep. You appear to be having NIGHTMARES, which is not at all unusual, given that your WAKING SELF has them all the time when he sleeps and that your waking self's life has been ANYTHING but peaceful as of late.

Or perhaps you feel some deeply buried urge to FINALLY DO SOMETHING USEFUL, and this is your own subconscious effort to WAKE UP. However, you - or rather, the waking self that is the other part of you - have done a lot of things INDEPENDENTLY in your life, and this appears to be something you actually require HELP with.

[...Well.

You didn't know Lyn was here -- you had just been checking the towers out of curiosity of who else was also on Derse, and now you're sort of just...peering in.

Huh.

He doesn't look like he's doing very good...]

[Lyn is curled up in a ball on a pile of blankets in his tower; it seems as though his sleeping accommodations on Derse mirror those of his waking self. It's an obviously uneasy sleep; he twitches frequently like a dreaming barkbeast, and makes faint little sounds in his throat.

On the upside, being dressed in the outfit of a Dersite hero means he looks semi-fashionable for the first and potentially only time in his life.]

[Welp.

On the one hand he is pretty damn sure that is not at all uncomfortable, and Lyn would benefit from waking up.

...On the other hand, Kappy knows Lyn well enough that he will have to approach this carefully -- well-meaning or not, suddenly waking someone up will sure as hell alert all the danger instincts for the first few moments, because 90% of the time being in that kind of situation meant you were going to get screwed over very shortly.

So he climbs in to the tower and has to ponder how to approach this, looking around the room to see what else there may be.]

[Kappy's entirely correct about this - woken up suddenly, Lyn will hit the goddamn roof. The good news is that he's not exactly prone to violence, or even accustomed to ever having to use it, so he's not likely to hurt Kappy so much as flip out and quite possibly try to dive out the nearest window.

Which would be a very bad idea, given the height of the tower, save that dreamselves can fly so he'd probably just scare himself even worse.]

[...Okay, let's start small.]

Urm.

Lyn?

[Unsurprisingly, this gets no response. Normally it might almost be enough - Lyn isn't used to unexpected sounds or presences around him, and he's a shockingly light sleeper, so it wouldn't take much to rouse him. But this is his dreamself, asleep for nearly nine sweeps straight, and it's going to take more to wake him up than a few quiet words from across the respite block.]

[ ...oh hi nik didn't see you there. her angry face fades and she grins and waves, still holding a couple of the posters. ] Hihi Kapkap!

To be honest, and you are always honest, you're not sure how you ended up asleep. You'd actually been trying pretty hard to keep at least fairly busy so that Zurahe wouldn't break all your stuff. And yet, here you are, back in the weird purple place you'd tried to deny existed for your whole life.

And frankly you're pretty pissed about it.

You've refused to leave your tower this time, really the only reason you did before was because you had been literally dragged out. Instead, you're just sort of pouting in your window, arms crossed on the windowsill, chin buried in the purple fabric of your sleeves. Pretty much you're a great target for anyone floating by to come harass.

[Wow, that's a lot of hats! Cheriour can respect a person with a lot of hats...even if said person is a cockroach-like being. Hey, hats are hats, and hats are cool.]

[So he can't help but give a grin to this little Courtyard Droll.]
