==> Cheriour: Try not to cry.

Your name is CHERIOUR LECLAIR, and if there is one thing you are good at doing, it's hiding your feelings behind your smile.

These feelings, however...you're not sure you can keep them all inside. They keep pressing on your chest, a sort of dull ache that you can't help but keep thinking about as you go out and slaughter imps for their grist or keep working on those quests for your blind consorts.

Chi-Rho and Sparks...they're probably dead, aren't they?

You don't want to acknowledge it, but the absence of their names on your Pesterchum just reminds you that it's no joke. Somewhere, there's their dead bodies, cut down in their youth, playing a game that ended their world as they knew it...

You don't even feel the sword in your hands as it cuts through an imp's neck, like butter.

You want to shut up all those feelings inside of you, but currently, you're failing at it. Horribly. A part of you wants to go and spill everything on a friend...but another part of you feels disgusted by that. Why bother anyone else with your feelings? They're already facing hardships of their own, why do they need any more?

But eventually, you work up the courage to go on Pesterchum, though you're still going to keep a tight leash on those emotions of yours.

-- CURRENT empyreanChroniker [EC] RIGHT NOW opened memo Lets not get ourselves down! --

EC: Hello all! 8)
EC: I hope everyone is doing okay.
EC: Just wanted to say a few words...
EC: Even though we're all in a tough situation right now, what with people disappearing and all...
EC: I just want to say: don't give up!
EC: We're all here for each other, okay?
EC: If you need some help, then don't hesitate to contact your friends.
EC: They'll give you the best support, I know it. 8)
EC: Let's not lose hope, everybody! 8D

You feel as if you're being STUPIDLY HYPOCRITICAL here, but either way, at least you're showing how much you still support everybody in their endeavors.

That's the most important thing right now.

As much as you want to focus on people disappearing and how to fix that... Cheriour's right, and you take a moment to respond.

Oh, yes, I 4gree!
We c4n't give up!

Everyone, yes, 4bsolutely, y4y!

You pause, and then also decide to 1-1 pester him after your memo response.

Unfortunately you didn't notice Cheriour's sadness about any of this. Not at all. Not even slightly. You can't help but smile at his reply, though. He's so nice!

Wise words for troubled times.
I have often wondered if our situation is hopeless myself, but if we doubt ourselves then it most certainly will be, I believe.
I think we've spoken before, haven't we? About astronomy.
What people have been disappearing?

Hm, how strange... and troubling.
I lost touch with several of my friends in a similar fashion.
Unfortunately, I haven't yet been able to reconnect with them, but I hope to find them again.
It's never helpful to be overly pessimistic, in my mind.
There are plenty of explanations that would be nothing to be worried about.
But it is also a good idea to have a backup plan, I think.

artfulTransgressor [AT] RIGHT NOW responded to memo.

AT: kind of a lame speech
AT: but its not like i actiVely disagree with the message
AT: way better than the guy complaining about how he didnt get to die peacefully to meteors with all his bffs
AT: i mean im no optimist
AT: and i dont know how any troll can be
AT: although fuck knows this game has proVen its way more possible than i wouldVe thought
AT: but i do think approaching this game from a lets-all-try-not-to-die-horribly mindset is a good idea
AT: and should generally be encouraged
artful_transgressor: (THE TOP SHELF WAS MADE TO TAUNT YOU LYN)

[personal profile] artful_transgressor 2013-05-04 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
inspirational speeches are always lame
except in moVies
and sometimes eVen then
mostly cause theyre always to a theme of 'life doesnt suck the good guys always win and you can do anything if you just belieVe in yourself and try hard'
and none of that shit is actually grounded in reality
and people know it
but hey ill grant you than more realistic speeches like 'life is hard and death is the only guarantee youll eVer get but giVing up is eVen worse'doesnt exactly wow the crowd
so like i said
i dont disagree with the message

lemme giVe you a little adVice for free though
yeah im a troll
and most of us are realists at best
pessimists at worst
the optimists are kind of a rare and special and frankly inexplicable breed
there was way too much culling and danger and classist oppression in troll society for anyone to seriously belieVe shit like 'things will work out' unless theyVe got some serious reality denial going on
and now our entire society is gone
along with our planet
so yknow
more cheerful facts
like
i know we actually haVe cheerful optimistic trolls in our session
like nikkal and aVispa
but i legit haVe no idea how a troll could eVer actually GET like that

so bottom line
im all about not giVing up
but you may not want to waste your time trying to sell any troll who isnt already weirdly cheerfully inclined on the optimism angle
its not really common in our species
for Very good reasons
